About Washyuuchan.org
Welcome to the long awaited history of Washyuuchan.org! How did we come to be you ask? Well I'll tell you!!
It all started back in the summer of 1999 when I first took interest in web design. Back then I had no clue of how to do html and so my first site was drop and drag. Of course I didnt like anime much then. That summer I got introduced to Sailor Moon which was the very first anime series I ever watched. Saw it in the tv guide and I was like "Hmm I wonder what this is about?!" so I flipped to the channel and luckily it was the very first episode!!
In 2000 I had a rough year, it was the year of the very bad breakup and also the summer I would learn about my most favoritest anime ever!! You guessed it Tenchi Muyo was being aired on Cartoon Network! That year was also the year I decided to go back to school. The place started out as an anime chatroom called A Dimension of Washu on the MSN chatroom listings with me being the owner! I had many regulars...who ended up being my kids x.x So then in October of that year I decided to create a Tenchi Fan Community named the same. Now at first it was just s'posed to be a Tenchi site but the members of the community kept bringing in images from other anime which started the Hoard!
For the next few months and into 2001, I tried different free hosting sites that would allow me to build a web site large enough to contain all the images the first place was called Homestead, but it ended when they decided to start charging people to host websites. Then I tried crosswinds and for me that was the jackpot because I had unlimited web space there! I was in heaven, however...I still didnt know HTML yet. A friend of mine taught me my first tag which was <img src=""> and I had my dad buy me a book on HTML and so I took it from there. After spending so many hours uploading ALL the images I had and finally getting to be able to make my pages, the servers at Crosswinds decided to take their little vacation. Yah you guessed it, their servers went down. After the first time I had no problem with it. But then it happend a second, third, fourth even a fifth time and I got fed up with it. Tore the site down. That was back when it was called A Dimension of Washu.
Later that year I found another place to host the site with unlimited free web space which was called Hostultra. Now they were good and all but I always had trouble logging in which threw out that idea. I also found another site to help me out with my html skill called Lissa Explains it all. I recommend this site to anyone that is just learning by the way! It's a good place to learn HTML even if it is a site for kids who are learning HTML. After awhile I decided to take a small break and just keep the site there at hostultra for a couple of years.
In 2003, I got into neopets which once again sparked my intrest in web design/graphic design. That would also be the year I decided to take an extended winter break from school...financial difficulties and all. Come 2004, I had decided to work with my mom at this health clinic which would help me out in obtaining my current webhost...whom I have Lissa Explains It All to thank for! My current webhost is dreamhost!! Love this place they're great! That same year I decided to change the name of the site to Washu's Anime Hoard! Made many title banners and what not for it but for some reason it didnt work. So in 2005, I decided to just go with my neopets username and called the site to match its url and the site you see now...WASHYUUCHAN.ORG!
From 2006 thru 2008 I went through a really rough patch with life stuffs and had lost a little intrest in doing any kind of web work and thought I had pretty much lost my spark. It would be 2009 when everything would turn itself around and the spark started to slowly come back when I found the NetTuts+ site. Sometime between 2007-2009 I tried my hand at flash sites and learned a little bit of php. With the knew learned "programing" language I was able to make a whole new look. So as you can see the site's gone through many changes over the past 10 years since my spark of interest. Each year I become better and better at it. Hopefully this will be the final layout for a good while! Enjoy!! |
